Defending champions Mumbai Indians continued their winning streak in the WPL, winning the thrilling season opener by 4 wickets. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur notched a brilliant 55 while Yastika Bhatia top-scored with 57 off 45 balls. For DC, Arundhati Reddy and Alice Capsey picked up 2 wickets each while Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey scalped a wicket apiece.
Earlier, Delhi Capitals managed to put up a score of 171 runs for the loss of five wickets in the opening match of the WPL 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against defending champions Mumbai Indians on Friday.
Alice Capsey stood out with a 75-run knock, while Jemimah Rodrigues added 42 to the side’s cause. Marizanne Kapp chipped in with a late cameo that took the capital city side’s score beyond the 170-run mark in the final over. Earlier, Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl against Meg Lanning-led Delhi Capitals.
