Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Giants by 5 wickets on Sunday to register their back-to-back second victory in WPL 2024. Harmanpreet Kaur played a captain’s innings to lead her team to the win as MI bowlers Shabnim Ismail and Amelia Kerr restricted GG to a low score
MI bowlers Shabnim Ismail and Amelia Kerr delivered a phenomenal spell to restrict GG to 126/9 in 20 overs. Tanuja Kanwar and Kathryn Bryce provided GG with some extra runs in the death overs. MI batters will look to register their second win as soon as possible as Net Run Rate (NRR) plays a crucial role in WPL.
The second season of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 has commenced, and Gujarat Giants, is all set to open its campaign against defending champion Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
Captained by the Australian run machine Beth Mooney, the Gujarat Giants team is keen to make a splash this year. The team in orange kickstarted their training with great gusto in the Garden City of Bengaluru, and are putting in the hard yards as they approach their first game. The Gujarat Giants will open its campaign at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against Mumbai Indians on February 25.
