Team India’s star batsman Shreyas Iyer has taken another U-turn. Shreyas Iyer will now be seen playing for Mumbai in the semi-final match of Ranji Trophy. Mumbai Cricket Association has informed that Shreyas Iyer has declared himself available for the semi-final match. However, earlier Shreyas Iyer had declared himself not fit for the quarter-final match. However, the National Cricket Academy had made it clear that Iyer is fit to play.
Mumbai will face Tamil Nadu in the semi-final match starting from March 2. The Times of India report quoted MCA as saying, “Shreyas Iyer has informed the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is completely fit and he will take the field to play the semi-final match.”
Controversy also arose over Iyer not playing Ranji Trophy. BCCI has made it clear that all the players who are not on national duty will have to play Ranji Trophy. Team captain Rohit Sharma has also warned that there will be no place in the future for players who do not take the Test format seriously. Looking at the attitude of BCCI and Rohit Sharma, it can be assumed that Iyer has again taken a U-turn.
