A fan breached security as he jumped the fence at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday to meet former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma during the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals. Rohit was scared out of his wits when the fan entered the ground and sprinted towards him, but later hugged him. The fan also hugged wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan before being grabbed by security officials.
It happened during the powerplay in the second innings of the match, when Rajasthan Royals were en route to their successful chase of 126. The incident caused a break of play, which players do not particularly enjoy and it often tends to break the momentum.
