A 22-year-old man hacked his 25-year-old sister to death soon after beheading her boyfriend, who belonged to a different caste, near Thirumangalam in Madurai on Tuesday night.
He also chopped off one his mother’s wrists when she tried to intervene. Police said the accused and his sister belonged to moopar caste while the boyfriend was of kallar caste, all of them non-dalits.
Police said the deceased, A Mahalakshmi of Kombadi, and N Sathish kumar, 28, were in a relationship. Around four years ago, Mahalakshmi got married to a man from Valayankulam but they got divorced soon after following irreconcilable differences. She was living with her parents at Kombadi when she fell in love with Sathish kumar of the same village.
