India’s fast bowlers ripped the Ireland batting order apart and the latter were all out for a score of just 96 in 16 overs. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant then helped India to an eight-wicket win, with the latter finishing off the chase in 12.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh dismissed both Irish openers in the third over after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. Hardik Pandya got a wicket in the seventh over and then Jasprit Bumrah then struck in the ninth. The freefall never really stopped as Pandya added two more wickets to his tally and Axar Patel got one in the only over of spin in the innings through a brilliant catch that he himself took.
Bumrah got his second with a trademark yorker to dismiss Josh Little and thus end a 27-run partnership for the 10th wicket with Gareth Delaney, highest of the innings for Ireland. The innings ended with a mix-up and a run out. Pandya finished with figures of 3/27 while Arshdeep returned in 2/35, with both players bowling their full quota of four overs. Mohammed Siraj returned 1/13 in 3 overs while Axar got 1/3 in the single over that he bowled. Bumrah was the standout though, recording numbers of 2/6 in three overs.
Virat Kohli opened the batting with Rohit but didn’t last long, falling for one run in five balls in the third over. Rohit carried on with Rishabh Pant though, eventually scoring 52 in 37 balls before retiring hurt. Pant finished it off with a reverse scoop six, staying unbeaten on 36 off 26 balls.
