Mumbai Indians head coach break scilence on removing Rohit Sharma as captain for the IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher has disclosed that the decision to relieve Rohit Sharma of the team’s captaincy was a challenging choice, aimed at allowing him to focus on his batting, especially considering his less-than-ideal performance in the previous couple of seasons.

In a highly discussed and unprecedented ‘all-cash trade’ in IPL history, the Reliance-owned franchise reclaimed all-rounder Hardik Pandya after his impressive two-year tenure with Gujarat Titans. Following this acquisition, the team appointed him as the new captain, succeeding Rohit, who had led the squad to five IPL titles.

We still want him (Rohit) as a player, absolutely because we know he has some great value to add and just go out there and actually enjoy it, without the hype of being the captain,” he said.
